Who’s got energy to burn?

Launch off snow mounds, tune into nature, collaborate with winter-loving peers to build a snowscape, and make outdoorsy friends. Wildernook’s Snow-tastic February Break Fun provides a fresh, active energy outlet for kids after a few too many indoor recesses.

Snow-tastic is designed for 5 - 7 year old adventurers who are wired to be active and play outdoors in all types of weather.

The Experience:   Each day will feature a different winter adventure in Meewasin Park’s Naturalized space and surrounding area.  We will be mobile for the afternoon, carrying our backpacks with us to our different play stops. Although we will spend each afternoon bundled up outdoors, participants will have access to an indoor washroom.

We welcome curiosity, enthusiasm, and playfulness. We will poll the group to see who has access to skis, and if it is feasible to build skiing in, we will add a skiing element.

Times: We will begin each session at 1:00 p.m., and wrap up at 3:30 each day. The three specific three days will be selected on the Saturday before based on the weather forecast for the week. Note: due to Family Day on the Monday, this is a four day week. We will select the three warmest days to run this program.

Cost: The program cost of $90.00 ($30.00/afternoon) includes access to the group outdoor gear we will be using and mentorship from experienced outdoor educators. Participants must provide their own snacks and warm winter clothing and covid-safety supplies.

Requirements: Participants need to have warm winter clothes such as snowpants, jacket, insulated winter boots (not bogs) and non-cotton socks and long underwear/base layers to be comfortable outdoors. This is an active program and participants should be in good physical condition to enjoy themselves (e.g. able to comfortably run for 10 minutes and walk for 30 minutes).

Our Covid-19 Response Includes:

  • Participants should wear a mask or winter face covering that covers their mouth and nose when not eating snack and families should try to maintain distance from each other during drop off

  • Our group size is capped at 10 and we facilitate activities which promote spreading out rather than gathering.

  • We use hand sanitizer before and after snack and after washroom use.

  • We ask that all toys be left at home.

Registered participants will receive a detailed information package in advance.

Cancellation: A refund, minus a 10% administration fee, can be issued up until 3 days prior to this event. After this time no refund will be issued.
